One of Those Nights

2008-04-09 20:05:53

"And I mean that in a good way. By now you know I play a Resto Druid on Whisperwind, and I don’t often have a lot of time for any kind of raiding. I have a 1 year old at home and another on the way, and I generally don’t log on until the baby and the wife hit the sack, and even then for not very long. My guild sets up raids during “prime time” hours, and I can almost NEVER make it. Recently, I found out that one of the guilds in our alliance runs a late night Kara on the weekends. Wahoo! Finally, a run I can at least occasionally participate in. Well, this weekend I scored. And I mean REALLY scored. The random number generator was just plain my friend. At the beginning of the night, I was sitting at around 1145 healing, the only stat I really care about. (Of course I pay SOME attention to MP5 and Stam, but really it’s all about +heal.) I am a leatherworker, so I had the [Windhawk Hauberk], [Windhawk Belt] and the [Windhawk Bracers]. wow gold Aside from that, I had a collection of decent blues like [The Essence Focuser] and such, along with my lone Kara drop from a previous run, [Aran's Soothing Sapphire]. Obviously, there are about a thousand drops in Kara I could use. Also lucky for me, of the three healers I was by FAR the most undergeared. The other two were there for fun and badges. I got nothing from Attumen or Moroes, but they don’t have much I’d want anyhow. When we got to the maiden, I said that I was hoping for the [Shard of the Virtuous]. wow lvl service Maiden falls, and sure enough, there it is. If that was all I got for the night, it would have been a great night for me.

That alone bumped me somewhere around 200 +heal after the enchant. Next came Opera. Once we saw it was the Big Bad Wolf, I again called out what I was looking for: [Red Riding Hood's Cloak]. Sure enough, there it was. wow gold Before that I was still wearing an old green cloak. (In retrospect, it’s too bad I didn’t call out that I would have wanted [Earthsoul Leggings] as well!) At this point, it’s already hugely successful for me. Well, it only kept going from there. We took down Nightbane, Curator and Aran. I got [Nightstaff of the Everliving], [Pauldrons of the Solace-Giver], [Handguards of Malorne] and finally [Boots of the Incorrupt]. wow leveln Wow. Just wow. By the time we got to Netherspite, other peeps in the group were asking me to call stuff out that they wanted. I called out [Chestguard of the Conniver] for our rogue, and sure enough, it dropped. My only regret. I had to log after Aran. wow level service I feared for my life as it was now 4 am (we got started at midnight) and it was only a matter of time before the wife came out and skinned me alive. After enchants the next day, I was up to 1440 +heal along with a healthy bump to spirit, health, mana and MP5. It was truly one of the best nights of WoW I can remember, but I’m sure it will all even out over my next 15 runs or so! " .

"Pet Peeves

2008-04-09 20:01:34

"We’ve all got em. I’ve spent some time recently leveling a Draenei warrior alt, and a few of my pet peeves have cropped up again. Here are some of my top pet peeves. Random group invites. Often, the reason I’m on an alt in the first place is because I want to spend some quality alone time questing or grinding. I’m usually not looking for a group, but if I am the last thing I will do is accept a random invite from someone halfway across the zone. Quest Mob Clearing. Here’s a doozy, that comes up more and more. Here I am in STV, working on bloodscalp tusks for my whirlwind weapon quest. I’m level 31, and the mobs are a little high for me, so I’m fighting slowly and methodically. Along comes a level 30 guy with a level 70 escort, and they proceed to wipe every bloodscalp in sight. wow gold Then they move onto the next spawn, and kill all of them in about 30 seconds. Ugh. I understand getting high level help to run you through in instance, but this is ridiculous. How the heck am I going to compete with a level 70. Decimation of Far Off Towns. wow lvl service I play on a PvE (carebear) server. So I don’t normally have to worry much about PvP problems. (I did play a warrior to 50 on a PvP server about 2 years ago, though.) Anyhow, I’m off in Desolace heading to Njell’s Point after finishing up a round of quests. When I get there a 50 Horde Shammy is laying waste to all the NPCs in town. Great. wow gold It’s one thing if someone is wiping NPCs in Lakeshire, or somewhere alliance help can come wipe him out, but I’m in Desolace! The worst thing.

I was the only alliance player I had seen in hours, just who was he griefing. Just me. Inflated AH Prices. wow leveln God I’m getting tired of this. Is any level 35 green weapon really worth 20 gold. And blues. Forget about it! Sure, I have the ability to farm out gold to my alts, but isn’t it still out of hand, when I can buy a level 65 weapon for cheaper than a level 35 weapon. Ugh! Weapon Skill. wow level service This is coming up even more with my warrior alt. There’s nothing worse than getting a nice, shiny new [Whirlwind Sword] and realizing your skill is at 1. Can’t I pay Woo Ping or some other weapon master 20g and have em auto level my skill. That’s a money sink I would invest in!" "Barrens Chat. Not that I’m ever in the Barrens, being alliance. Why do idiots take over general chat. I remember back in beta general chat was actually useful. I wasn’t in a guild then, so I needed it and used it often.

As My Gear List Shrinks…

2008-04-09 19:59:44

"As I continue to improve Pummra’s gear, I find my opportunities for him shrink further and further. Friday night I got one of the last few drops I need from Kara in the [Earthsoul Leggings]. I got them gemmed up and threw on some [Golden Spellthread], and that pushed me over 1700 heal. Once I got that cleared away, it was time to re-evaluate my gear and set up some new milestones. I looked at Heroic drops, badge gear, and Kara drops. Not much there for me, anymore. There are some marginal upgrades in badge gear, but nothing I wanted to grind out badges to pick up. Kara has a few drops I’d like to see still, but nothing that I NEED. That led me to look at sidegrade items, in case I ever wanted to respec to feral (which I do miss) or try a balance spec some day. So what’s the problem. 2 months ago I had a nice, big list of gear I wanted/needed for Pummra. I needed to level my LW for Windhawk, I needed to get in Kara for a variety of drops there, many heroic drops and much of the badge gear were nice, big upgrades for me. wow gold Now, more and more, I’m seeing that if I really want to progress, it’s time for 25 man raids. Ugh. Double Ugh. Trust me, I WANT to run SSC. I want to hit The Eye and work towards Hyjal and beyond. The problem is, I’m lucky if I can set aside four hours for raiding once a week. My guild recently moved Kara to “full farm” status, so anyone and everyone can set up runs. I’ve started running Kara once a week in a way that fits into MY schedule. " "So we move on to the next pull, and again a scout got away or something, and again I found myself dirt napping.

wow lvl service It was a little embarrassing, to be honest. I’m a better player than that, I have pretty good gear, but I really didn’t have time to prepare. I’ll usually read up on a raid beforehand- analyze maps, chat with people, get an idea on how it works. I really wasn’t expecting to be there, though. So it’s time to buckle down. One thing with me and healing is sometimes it takes me a few minutes to get “warmed up.” If I’m not expecting to be running a heroic, for instance, we might have an early wipe as I get my game in gear. wow gold Once I’ve been healing for a few and start to get my feel, though, it’s smooth sailing. I get in a sort of healing “zone” as I play whack-a-mole with all the little boxes. Thankfully, that was once again the case. I got nice and focused, tried to stick with one of the other healers, and kept a lookout for stray mobs. (This is where I’m glad I don’t need my heal target in LOS to get off my heals.) I managed to make it through the rest of the trash to the boss without dying again. If there’s one thing I love about WoW, it’s seeing new bosses. I love to learn new encounters, and figure out how best to help in tough situations. wow leveln The Dragonhawk boss is the perfect example of this. There’s a few things you have to keep in mind during the fight, and it makes for a very interesting encounter. The bombs are easy enough to deal with when you get a good idea of their range. Once you realize random hawks may be flying around, they’re easy enough to avoid as well. Overall he was very tough, but also very fair. I only died one time on the 4-5 times we tried that boss.
wow level service (I’m not counting the 2 extra “run away and try to reset” deaths. :)) It was a lot of fun, but sadly we weren’t able to take him down. I feel like we were really close, but the raid was only scheduled to 10 and we lost a couple people at that point and called it a night. THIS is what I’ve been looking for. Kara, almost from the start, was flat out too easy. (Part of this is due to being a healer, which is a pretty easy job in Kara with a decent group.) Sure, there’s a thing or two you have to learn, but nothing like what I saw last night in ZA. Now I can’t wait to get in again. I’m just disappointed that I don’t know when that will be. " .

Guide to the Black Morass

2008-03-20 19:15:45

"What's happening. Basically, you get back in time when Medivh is opening the Dark Portal. wow gold Bad Dragonskins try to stop him. Time rifts will open where mobs will spawn. The rifts are timer based, which means that more than one rift can be open at the same time. If the spawns manage to kill Medivh, you failed and you need to reset the instance. Same goes if they manage to kill you. Notice that if you talk to the NPC at the beginning of the instance, you will recieve an item called 'Chrono Beacon' which will be very useful. wow lvl service Time Rifts The time rifts can open at 4 different spots on your map (East / West / North / North East). Like described before, Dragonskins will spawn. There will be 1 Rift Lord per portal, this is the only elite. As soon as you've killed this Rift Lord, the Portal will close. As long as the portal remains open, more non elite dragonskins will spawn. You will some (like 15 seconds) time to rest after a rift. wow gold The Rift Lords You may have 4 different sorts or Rift Lords spawning, here are the cases Warlock - AOE Shadowbolt / Fear on second highest aggro target / Curse increasing spell damage taken by 50%(To do: Shadow Aura / Fear Ward / Decurse) Mage - Instant Pyroblast on random target / Blastwave / Frostbolt (To do: Fire Aura) Warrior 1 - Sunder Armor Warrior 2 - Mortal Strike Basically, you're happy if you get a melee, they aren't too hard to handle but have a lot of HP. The two casters are kinda squishy but can nuke pretty badly. The Plan Everybody in the party should start by getting a Chrono Beacon from the NPS.

Buff up right away and fight your way till medivh (around 10 lvl 70 non elite beasts). Once you get close to Medivh, I'd say 20 yards, the encounter will start and the first rift will open. Basically, you want to dps the Rift Lords down as fast as possible to have the least spawns possible. wow leveln The spawns will mostly have 2 target, either Medivh or your healers. Now we have 2 cases: Either you have decent dps and there won't be more than 4 or 5 spawns per portal, or your dps will slack and you'll have more spawns. If you can manage to kill the Rift Lord with 5 or less spawns, then do it and let the spawns go wherever they want. If not, let 4 people focus on the Rift Lord and let 1 person handle the spawns. wow level service The Group I'll tell you the group we used when we cleared the instance. Notice that this is not a needed group, just the one I had which seemed quite nice to me: Warrior - Our tank was fury specced, but did a nice job. Keeping aggro wasn't too much of a problem but a protection warrior might be more useful Rogue - Our rogue was quite decently geared and could dish out some decent damage. He will enventually have to evasion-tank on the second boss for a few seconds Paladin - Our paladin was holy specced with some good +healing gear. He will be your main healer during the encounter since he could get some aggro from the spawns (if you are using the nuke-rift-lord-technic) and plate will help him. His bubbles will also come in handy. Priest - Our priest was used for damage and for healing. He had some very good damage gear (+600 dmg), which means he could pretty much nuke single targets.
He had a damage discipline spec, allowing him to have Divine Spirit which was quite handy. When fighting rift lord, he used his damage gear and switched to healing gear for bosses. Mage - Our mage pwned so hard, you can't even imag... Oh, well, I was there and did some dmg, spec isn't important, even if Blast Wave and Dragon's Breath come in handy here. " .

Rotten's Hunter guide :)

2008-03-12 17:00:00

"Hunter Guide by Rottentomato:

Hunters are a fun class to play for experienced or beginner World of Warcraft players.
Their versatility is amazing, and survivability is also bar none.
cheap wow gold Not only do you get to have some abilities that other classes don’t get, like mail armor, and the ability to use ranged weapons.
but someone gives you a pet to pound away at beasties or any other silly players that decide to try and prey upon you thinking you are just a lowly melee class.

They are one of the most powerful PvPers in the game hands down at low levels like 19-39, but they also level as fast if not faster than every class in the game, meaning your run to 70 will be a breeze.

Let’s get down to brass tax:

Builds

Beast Mastery
This is the build I am using and working towards for end game.

http://wowdigger.com/talent/view/3/0...00000000000000

It’s a solid PvE build that also has some advantages during PvP against certain types of players.

Without a doubt it’s THE best way to level in PvE.
buy cheap wow gold Not only do you get amazing skills to use with your pet, but your pet turns into a mini tank, and out armors pretty much any warrior at a comparable level all the way through at least 50.
I found it amazing in a sticky situation to send me pet out after any adds I get and have him work them to the core.
sell wow gold

This is a solid build to keep until 70, as PvE goes, you can take pretty much anything that Blizzard manages to throw at you.

Until you get your mount, rather than putting the two points into mend pet, I put them into Pathfinding as aspect of the cheetah is so much better with +8 movement speed stacked on top

Marksman:

http://wowdigger.com/talent/view/3/0...00000000000000

Marksman is regarded as one of the best PvP builds.

You do amazing amounts of burst damage, and seem almost godly against other players.
Your pet loses agro easily however.
really cheap wow gold as your crits are substantially higher than a BM hunter.
Aimed shot is a wonderful ability to have, and even after the nerf still does amazing amounts of damage.
One point in go for the throat keeps the pets growls coming, as every crit you get.
fast wow gold your little fluffy critter gets more focus for a growl.
"
